FTTH Council Asia Pacific to focus on FTTH-enabled applications and take FTTH to the next level in the region

June 19, 2012 – Following a highly successful 12 months, members of the FTTH Council Asia Pacific met at the Annual General Meeting in Shanghai in May to set the course for the year to come. Seven members of the Board were elected, and Monique Morrow was chosen as President of the Council for the 2012-13 term. The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing President, Fouad (Frank) Jaffer, who stepped down at the end of his maximum term as a member of the Board of Directors, and who helped the council to become recognized as an expert voice on high-speed broadband in Asia.

2012 Asia Pacific Fiber to the Home Conference & Exhibition Wrapped Up on a High Note

Shanghai, May 14, 2012 – The year’s largest Asia Pacific fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) conference and exhibition concluded on a high note last week, showcasing how the diversity of broadband and its applications enhance quality of life.

Over 700 experts and professionals representing organizations of all sizes across the FTTH industry gathered at the Pudong Shangri-La Hotel at Shanghai, China, on May 9 and 10, 2012. Under the overall theme of “Linking Fiber, Living Better” this year, more than 50 track sessions and panel discussions took place during the two-day event.
 

APAC represents 75% of FTTH/B Subscribers Worldwide
A solid twenty eight per cent increment in the number of FTTH/B subscribers

Shanghai, May 9, 2012 – FTTH Council Asia Pacific announces the latest Asia Pacific (APAC) FTTH market panorama study today at their annual conference at Pudong, Shanghai in China. The council has commissioned IDATE in 2011 to provide an overview of the status of FTTH/B rollouts across the region. To date, around 90 FTTH/B projects has been identified in the APAC. The front runner players to become involved in FTTH/B deployments were incumbents which singlehandedly account for 67% of FTTH/B homes passed in APAC. Incumbent carriers have performed pioneers rollouts in Japan and South Korea and now in China, Taiwan area and Malaysia.
