4 November 2018 – Today the world is celebrating Gimme Fiber Day. 4 November is the birthdate of Nobel Prize winner Sir Charles Kuen Kao, who was awarded in 2009 the Nobel Prize in Physics for “ground-breaking achievements concerning the transmission of light in fiber for optical communication”. This year is even more special as Professor Kao passed away last September.

The day was celebrated among many of the APAC members in their premises. Some of them are shared below

Cyient organized Gimme Fiber Day celebrations at their APAC headquarters in Melbourne, Australia in remembrance of Nobel Prize winner Sir Charles Kuen Kao’s ground-breaking achievements. Cyient’s Sr. Vice President & Global Head – Communications BU, Sanjay Krishnaa also participated in the event and addressed the troop. He especially highlighted on how Cyient is able to assist global Communication Service Providers (CSPs) in their project rollouts leveraging Fiber and fiber-fed 5G/Small cells deployments. He also added a special note on FTTH Council APAC’s efforts in creating awareness on fiber broadband rollouts in the region and promoting Gimme Fiber Day.
